Sommer Homes has been building custom homes and renovations in the Metropolitan area for over thirty years. Our experience has led us to develop the Sommer Homes construction process. The process is designed to simplify the project for you while also ensuring that the finished home lives up to all expectations. 

The Sommer Homes process follows predefined steps to help ensure a smooth building process.

Step One: Prepare Project Parameters
The starting point of any project is to establish what you'd like to accomplish. We'll have extensive conversations on interior and exterior architectural styles, room functions, furniture placement, and special considerations such as a grand kitchen, hobby spaces, or handicap needs. We'll discuss budget, project priorities and, for renovations and additions, living arrangements during construction.

Step Two: Building the Team
Now that we have a solid understanding of your project, Sommer Homes will help assemble your project development team. Besides Sommer Homes, key members include the architect, interior designer, site planner, numerous engineers and design specialists. Sommer Homes has an outstanding in-house architect or we can work with the professionals you may have already selected. By creating the key team at the beginning of the project development phase, every member is involved in the planning thereby increasing project efficiency.

Step Three: Document Preparation
With the team now in place, it’s time to prepare all the documents necessary to build the project. Sommer Homes will provide value engineering, create the Construction Specification Manual, and prepares progress budgets and other critical documents. Sommer Homes will also help you and the interior designer expedite product selections.

Step Four: Final Plans
After extensive reviews the final architectural plans, site plan, scope of work, and construction specifications are completed. Sommer Homes will apply for and monitor the building permit process. You and Sommer Homes will review and approve the construction budget and construction agreement.

Step Five: Construction Begins
After the building permits are in place, it's time to begin construction. Sommer Homes will oversee and manage all aspects of construction.

Step Six: Construction Ends
Construction is complete. After a final walk-thru, the project is ready for you to occupy and enjoy your new home. Welcome to the Sommer Homes family. Well after the project is complete, we make sure everything is right and are forever available to serve you.
